More than just books
The UTS Blake Library has moved to UTS Central taking its rightful place at the centre of campus. Featuring upgraded facilities and a direct connection to the high-tech Library Retrieval System below Alumni Green, the new Library will deliver a superior student experience.
UTS is reinventing the library experience, offering more than just books with a modern Library management system and services embedded into learning and research. Library management system features include streamlined searches with an improved search results page, easier access to online resources, tools to help manage research with options to save items and export bibliographic records, and personalised search based on disciplinary interests
University Librarian Michael Gonzalez says it’s a “library deconstructed”.
“Rather than all services behind a single gated space, library services will be integrated throughout seven levels of the new building. This redistribution of our spaces enables us to take a broader view of what we provide, how we provide it and how we ‘plug-in’ our services throughout the building to deliver a distinctive student experience.”
The power of education, the power of knowledge is at the core of what we are as a university.

The move to UTS Central connects the Library and Reading Room to the Library Retrieval System (LRS), the underground home for book storage and book delivery. The LRS is the single largest piece of technology on campus, and it enabled the Library to rethink how it offers services, collections and study spaces.
“Print collections remain an integral part of an academic library, however new modes of learning, research and interacting with information mean libraries must evolve from simply being warehouses of books,” said Mr. Gonzalez.
The Library also incorporates the Student Learning Hub, located at UTS Central on Level 4, a one-stop service point for key student support services, including counselling, financial assistance, housing, careers and HELPS.
